Rustic Retreat

Rustic Retreat - Rustically Simple and Charming!

From the minute Rustic Retreat came out in Stampin' Up's 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, I knew it would make a beautiful Christmas card - other occasion cards as well, but especially festive for the holidays.

I started making this with full intentions to color the stamped country cottage with Stampin' Blends, but once I decided to add the bears, I just loved the rustic simplicity of this card and left it that way.

The card base is Early Espresso and the red checkered plaid paper is from Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper from the 2019 Holiday Catalog. I die cut the layered pieces using Stitched Nested Labels - the largest of the two different combinations - one in Very Vanilla and one in Early Espresso and layered them. I stamped the image of the country cottage and then below the greeting Sending Warm Christmas Wishes in Early Espresso.

The bears, which I love and are so adorable, come from the Snow Globes Scenes Dies. I placed the "mama bear" as I'm calling her, outside the "scene" as if she's looking for her baby bear. I have to admit, no idea why, but I have a thing for bears! I went to Alaska hoping to see a bear and never did - my husband and son did. Guess I need to take another trip out to Alaska in the hopes of finally seeing a bear!

The red ribbon is a retired wide Really Red ribbon I've held onto and used. I thought the stitched look of ribbon with the stitched frames was perfect. You could create a similar look with a variety of ribbons or even cardstock.

This card was very simple to put together and I enjoyed capturing my moments making it knowing it will make someone smile at Christmastime. I hope you capture your moments today too. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
