Christmas Gleaming and Brightly Gleaming

Christmas Gleaming and Brightly Gleaming

I love when Stampin' Up comes out with suits and bundles that use punches. It opens the door to crafters who don't have expensive die cutting machines and it allows "mass" producing of cards. I'll be making 20 of these cards and while I've chosen to use an embossing folder, you could easily leave that decorative piece off the card and go with just Very Vanilla cardstock for an equally beautiful and simple-to-create card.

This card was made with Stampin' Up's Christmas Gleaming stamp set, Gleaming Ornaments punch pack, and Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper. I started with a Thick Very Vanilla cardstock base and my first mat was Pretty Peacock. I embossed the second mat of Very Vanilla using Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder. While that embossing folder originally was intended for a Halloween suite - Monster Bash, it works beautifully with the designs of the ornaments.

Beneath the ornaments is another matted layer of Pretty Peacock and then on top of that a mat of Brightly Gleaming DSP. I stamped the ornaments with Pretty Peacock and Delicata Metallic Ink - Celestial Copper which picks up on the beautiful copper foil running through the Brightly Gleaming paper. I stamped the sentiment "Deck the halls with boughs of holly" with Pretty Peacock also inside the ornament before punching out the ornament.

The greeting "& be jolly this season" was also stamped in Pretty Peacock on Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out with the Pretty Label punch. To "frame" the punch and make it stand out a bit, I punched the same Pretty Label punch using Pretty Peacock cardstock and then cut across the middle (left to right or horizontal) of the punched piece and adhered both pieces to the back of the stamped/punched piece but separating the two pieces so it looks matted. This is an easy fix since most frame dies or punches don't come as nested sets.

At first I was worried about the non-traditional colors of this paper, but after working with it, it is really pretty and unusual. I enjoyed capturing my moments on this Christmas card, especially thinking of my mom and dad who will be receiving it. I hope you capture your special, fun, creative, or crafty moments today too!
